Colorants for PET preform

PET preform is article for production plastic containers or bottles for wide range of products by Stretch blow molding technique. But firstly PET preform should be prepared by injection blow molding (IBM). The injection molding phase is molding a thermoplastic material (in case of PET - polyethylene terephthalate) into a hollow, tube-shaped article called a preform. Later, using stretch blow molding, from this preform jars, bottles etc can be produced. Stretch blow molding is the method of producing a plastic container from a preform or parison that is stretched in both the hoop direction and the axial direction when the preform is blown into its desired container shape.
 

 It is well known fact that the plastic bottle can have different color for example amber, blue, green, white and various shades of thereof. The color of plastic container has not only decorative meaning but also provide protection of product from UV and visible light and as final result increase product shelf-life. From this point somebody can imagine the impact of colorants on PET preform industry. For production of color plastic bottles preform should be colored as well. Colorant should be added at injection molding phase in polyethylene terephthalate near the melting point. Only special colorants can meet requirements of PET preform industry like high pressure, high temperature, non-toxicity etc. Colorants also should provide uniform color and be in accordance with protection requirements of preform customers.

Today, colorants production for PET preform industry in Russia is high perspective market. At the moment, all producers of PET preforms use colorants from Europe and US, which cost them quite expensive. Also if taking into account usual difficulties with custom, transportation etc manufacturers are ready to buy colorant which will be produced in Russia. Today we have developed technology of production these colorants and studied the market of raw materials. Currently samples are tested.
