SUN INNOVATIONS has produced a multifunctional printer for labs and printed electronics

New SUN’s printer NEO Skate is a serious bid for leadership in the sphere, believe its creators. It can print wide range of products, including solar sells.

Developers named its creation in the honor of skate – the fish which is capable of producing an electric charge. It is designed for printing by different types of liquid compositions as well as conductive ink. It has many applications, for example it can be used for printing electronic circuits, micro- and makroelectronics facilities, solar sells, RFID etc. And do it very fast, with minimal costs.

Russian Institute of Applied Acoustics decided to buy one of the first manufactured printers. They needed simple and useful tool for trying out technology of printing by different materials. NEO Skate can also be very helpful when it is necessary to produce small batch of product or even the unique prototype.

Due to precision mechanics elements of image is applied up to tenth of a millimeter. Developers put Skate into airproof glass box where no movement of air or micro particles of dust could disturb the process.

The method used by Skate is much more cost-saving and environmental friendly in comparison with the traditional method of chemical etching in manufacturing of printed circuit boards. Up to 96% of the source material is ejected when we use the last one. The method of etching is also more expensive, toxic and requires equipment which takes a lot of place.

NEO Skate was presented at the International Nanotechnology Forum RUSNANOTECH – 2011 this autumn where it had a big success among the industry pros.
